چکیده

This paper presents our ongoing work towards fusing RGB-D images with data from contact and proximity sensors embedded in a robotic hand for improved object perception, recognition and manipulation. Optical depth information from multiple sensors is often inaccurate and inconsistent. These problems arise from problems with sensor calibration, but also occlusion of objects by other objects or the robot arm itself. In this paper, we propose to combine global pose information from RGB-D sensing with local proximity sensing during approach. Here, we use contact information based on a novel contact sensor and additional pose information provided by

Map-merging in Multi-robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Process Using Two Heterogeneous Ground Robots

In this article, a fast and reliable map-merging algorithm is proposed to produce a global two dimensional map of an indoor environment in a multi-robot simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) process. In SLAM process, to find its way in this environment, a robot should be able to determine its position relative to a map formed from its observations. To solve this complex problem, simultan...

A combined approach for stereoscopic 3D reconstruction model based on improved semi global matching

The effective recovery of the 3D structure of a scene using two or more 2D images of the scene, each acquired from a different viewpoint is a challenging task of stereovision. Defining pixel correspondence in stereo pairs is a fundamental process for automated image based effective 3D reconstruction. This paper presents modified Census based approach for local cost optimization where local matc...

Comparison of Local and Global Region Merging in the Topological Map

The topological map is a model that represents 2D and 3D images subdivision. It aims to allow the use of topological and geometrical features of the subdivision in image processing operations. When handling regions in an image, one of the main operation is the region merging, for example in segmentation process. This paper presents two algorithms of region merging in 3D topological maps: one lo...

Investigation of changes of spatial autocorrelation patterns of chlorophyll-a in Choghakhor International wetland using hot spots index (Gi *) and remote sensing

Water resources such as wetlands, in addition to their economic and social importance, are ecologically valuable sources of aquaculture production. Due to its effects on aquatic environments, necessity of monitoring and awareness of the spatial and temporal distribution of chlorophyll-a is important for environmental studies. In the new approach to such studies, application of spatial statistic...

Active 3d Surface Modeling Using Perception-based, Differential-geometric Primitives

Computational vision is about why a biological vision system functions as it does and how to emulate its performance on computers. The central topics of this thesis are how a differential geometry language can be used to describe the essential elements of visual perception in both 2D and 3D domains, and how the components of this geometric language can be computed in ways closely related to how...
